Everyday Grace

After two months of my husband being very unwell (dengue) and then me needing hospitalization for my bipolar disorder, I have decided this morning that I will be grateful. For the simplest of life's pleasures. A shower in my own bathroom. Breakfast that I cook to my own taste, not some hospital food. A luxurious phone call with a friend. Things that I always took for granted... things to relish now.

Simplicity. Freedom. Everyday Grace. Thank you, everyone who sent me prayers and wishes, I needed them all...

I'm happy to be back!

Love,
Jhilmil

Feature Article - Enhance Your Life with Gratitude

Many of us underestimate the power of gratitude. As we constantly strive to add more and more to our lives it is easy to forget about being grateful for things and talents we already possess. Making gratitude a habit will enrich your whole outlook on life, even in the most turbulent circumstances.

What we focus on grows. The more we focus on what we appreciate, the more we will have to appreciate!

Gratitude is a learned skill that must be practiced daily to develop its full potential. Practicing gratitude does not require elaborate rituals or a huge amount of spiritual awareness; simply taking a few moments to note every time something goes right is enough.

At first this may take a conscious effort, but as the habit takes root, seeing things to be thankful for becomes as natural as breathing.

Although grateful people tend to be happier people, being grateful is not the same as being happy. When life is turning out all wrong, being grateful allows you to focus on that ray of sunshine coming through. It allows you to take an honest look at a situation and say, "even in this there is reason to hope."

Do not confuse being grateful with settling for less. Gratitude should never interfere with your efforts to improve and grow. Expressing gratitude simply gives you a better outlook on life, making it easier to attract the true happiness you deserve. By focusing attention on what is going right, more things work out for the best.

Be grateful even for the trials in life. Your trials are what made you the person you are today. It is those very same trials that you strong enough to cope with the difficulties in life.

Grateful people have a way of looking at the misfortunes and failures in their lives and turning them into opportunities. These opportunities may not be readily apparent at first, but when the pain and frustration have passed, there they are. Every cloud has a silver lining if only we take the time to look.

Enhance your life. Take a few moments right now and actively notice things you can be grateful for. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, pass the gratitude forward. True gratitude involves action. Make a gift. Give your time. Listen to someone in need. Embrace gratitude as a habit!

On Indian Parenting

Do Indian parents think they have the right to still be controlling our lives even when we are almost 40? I just do not get it...

What do think?

Write in to me, I am finally back from Rehab (bipolar disorder type 1)... 43 days being locked up (on my father's whim was not a pleasure).

Jhilmil

More thoughts on freedom...

Sure, Jaideep, I am a tough cookie to deal with. Just as I respect
your views, it would be nice to do the same to mine, however crazy my
views may be!

I believe in dreaming... and maybe making a positive difference. We
cannot choose who our neighbours are (aka Pakistan, China, etc.) but
we can control how we as a nation view them.

No one is forgetting Dr Kalia, it is after all his son's tragic
killing which led to the two of us discussing this issue... maybe one
day we will meet and enjoy understanding our different viewpoints.

With love,
Jhilmil

Thanks Jaideep. I have just been to Pakistan and many parents of such
martyrs have shared their stories and hearts with me. I will make
sure I keep you in the loop if I hear anything.

With One Heart,
Jhilmil

PS: You did not know me until yesterday, I think (else join me on
Facebook!). Now you will never forget me...

PPS: I think Hindutva is the main problem in our country. So are the
so called missionaries who target Christians in Southern India, and
the honour conversions in Gujarat and the North East. I do not know
the name of such organisations, but perhaps you have done research on
them...? Please do enlighten me. I am all ears.

PPPS: All my love and condolences are for the Kalia family. The loss
of a child (I have 4 sons, one of whom is determined to become a
fighter pilot...) must be the worst loss in the world. But that does
not give us the power to play God and send out inflammatory emails
like these. God will love. God will forgive. God will give grace.

PPPPS: I believe in One World. One Heart. One God. You???

Psychic Surgery During Meditation...

3 am. Tired and weary after being up most of the night, and knowing I have to be awake through the day as I am in a workshop, I put on Master's meditation. The Meditation on Twin Hearts is a very powerful meditation and for the first time, I lie down in shavasana and try to rest as I listen to Master's soothing voice. I am completely surrendered to Him.

I must have drifted off to sleep... and wake up with the intense feeling of light and heat and some sort of opening around my throat chakra. This is the chakra which has been so blocked for the last 10 days as I am dealing with issues in my marriage... and my health, and I could feel a cancer or something bad happening in my throat area...

4 am. I lie there, immobile and unable to move as I listen to the last few minutes of the meditation. How did I sleep like that and how did I wake up in perfect time?? I do not question things anymore as I firmly believe in the powers of the Universe...

The meditation ends and I lie in a daze wondering who was operating on my throat. My voice does not come out, I am trying to clear my throat, it feels more husky... I wander off to the kitchen to make tea.

Suddenly, the answers that come to me are this:
My life is perfect. Like always. Sometimes I look to my husband or kids loving me more, or displaying their love... and get angry if they do not... I have experienced the love of a beloved in my heart. I have 4 beautiful children... and a kind and honourable husband.

Thank you, Master!!

With love, devotion, and complete surrender,
Jhilmil

The net is closing on Dr. David Southall...................By Jack Frost

The case concerning Dr. David Southall ( paediatrician) who has given evidence in a huge number of Family Court cases, will be hitting the newspapers, shortly. As a result of Dr. David Southall's evidence, a huge number of children have been taken into care and many given away to adoption.......The parents and children in these cases are looking for transparent justice. Something the Guligans are petrified of the implications; once the full details of Dr. David Southall's villainy are exposed.

Dr...Sometimes, professor Southall! 'enhanced' his CV and made claims about himself and his experience, in court, that have now been exposed by Mrs Penny Mellor. ALL his cases are now UNSAFE. He has claimed to be ' a Consultant Paediatrician'.....when the dates for given for obtaining this status, in his evidence, were incorrect.

There is also concern about his charity; Child Advocacy International ( CAI ), which then changed its name to Childhealth Advocacy International, but still using the abbreviation CAI ! All enquiries taken up with the authorities, do not support the information Dr. Southall provided to the court and the GMC !

This same Dr David Southall was the one who falsely accused Sally Clark and her husband.
As a result, he was found guilty of 'serious professional misconduct' by the GMC and banned from any child protection work, for 3 years. Now extended.

Newport police are now conducting an investigation into a number of complaints, from mothers who allege that their babies/children were included in medical experiments conducted by Dr. David Southal, without their consent, or after their consent had been forged/obtained fraudelently.

John Hemming MP( Birmingham Yaerdley ), in a speech to the House of Commons on 19 December 2003, referred to Dr. David Southall as ' Mengele'. ( See Hansard 19 December 2006) . I published the complete text of John Hemming MP's speech in my book " The Gulag Of The Family Courts"....Page 307-311

I have now received a copy of an old e-mail ( below), sent by Penny Mellor, to the police. This is now stirring other concerns and it is expected that this will feature in the news, soon.

Subject: Deputy Chief Constable Staffordshire Police David Swift

Dear Mr Gregory,

I am sending you by fax correspondence in relation to my complaint against David Swift. In a letter dated 18th August 1999 from Mr Swift to myself he states that there are only two complaints, this is incorrect, long before I was arrested on the 29th April, DS Durbar questioned and restrained my children without consent or authority, that was the original complaint, that has been totally ignored although he alludes to it on the last page under "(b) without giving the date.

Secondly in paragraph 4 he states "I note that during the interview you spoke on behalf of others who you claim to have personal knowledge or experience of wrong doing and whom you undertook to have contact us. None of the individuals have come forward and at your request we did not contact them" That is an out and out lie. Sharon Payne, Janet Davis and Nicky McCoombe all came forward and were told to go away by DS Bufton and had Mr Swift listened to the tapes of my interview with DI Denning and DS Bufton rather than read the transcript, he would have heard the exact opposite.

It was Staffordshire Police who stated they could NOT approach parents, not at my request, at their say so. I maintain that because of Mr Swifts failure to immediately instigate a thorough investigation into allegations of collusion between David Southall and Child Protection in both the police and social services, that I was arrested and charged in order to silence me, that my children were harrassed in order to silence me, that I was unlawfully held and subjected to police harassment in order to silence me and ultimately that the charges bought against me are a tool to prevent any internal investigation into police and social services involvement in the making of false allegations of MSbP with David Southall.

Repeatedly Staffordshire Police have refused to take evidence of perjury, perverting the course of justice, assault and in my opinion the manslaughter of babies during clinical trials at North Staffordshire hospital. The day I walked into Staffordshire Police Station and saw Staffordshire Child protection Officers, that date being 4th Feb 1999 long before I was implicated in anything in relation to what I am charged with, with a copy of a police statement made by David Southall in relation to a mother Donna Glover, who had been covertly videoed, a statement that had been buried with a confidentiality order by the High Courts, a statement that was never ever supposed to see the light of day, was the day that my fate was sealed, I had to be closed down, for statement is the evidence that police and social services covered up for doctors.

The breaking of Jordan Glovers arm in two places and the shaking of a baby during CVS without the intervention by four doctors despite being told that this particular surveillance was not sanctioned by social services because of the risk to the child, is the most damning piece of evidence against David Southall, it proves beyond a doubt that the safety of children has never been uppermost in his mind, it was all research and the end justified the means, over the years he had his own "personal" child protection team that were willing to go along with whatever he said and could actually never speak out against him, because in that one incident where Jordan was systematically abused over and over again without intervention, they had all implicated themselves.

David Swift could have conducted a thorough investigation he chose not to, therefore he is implicated, he has either lied to me in writing or allowed officers to lie to him without checking the facts and that is totally unacceptable, my children were abused by Staffordshire child protection and that is something I will not tolerate. David Southall, Martin Samuels, Carl Bose and John Hewertson are guilty of Criminal Negligence. Staffordshire child protection police officers are guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and despite the best efforts of the police and David Southall, I will not remain silent about child abuse, no matter what is done to me, I will not remain silent.

Penny Mellor

Life Positive Expo with the MOST UnPositive People...

21 Sep 8 am. I get ready, excited and happy. Here is an event I have been eagerly looking forward to... the annual Life Positive expo. I've even paid money to attend (next year, I will not! Pay money, that is, I will just attend)...

10 am. I get to the expo, which was supposed to have started at 8 am with Sky Yoga, which I had to miss as I was teaching my own Basement Yoga... Things are still being set up. In typical Indian style, vendors are still walking in with all their paraphernalia... When will we learn that first impressions are everything??

10:15 am. I have registered, quite comfortably, by the so far "nice" people at the Check in Desk. I sit down in the Conference Room with so many other people, eager to learn what this kind gentleman from Hyderabad has to teach us about Hypnosis. Sadly, within 10 minutes I realise, that like most teachers, he only likes the sound of his own voice, and I dislike being "taught". I prefer to "learn".
So I go out to have tea or buy books... I proceed to spend 1.4 lakhs!!! in 30 minutes. I must admit that one of them is a beautiful painting. Picture alongside. The art gallery assures me it is a sure shot investment. 1.2 lakhs today, double it in 1 year... How do I care? I like it today, I had the money that I earned, so I bought it. It felt strangely empowering not take my husband's "permission" as I took out my own cheque book with a flourish... To buy beautiful art, just like buying flowers or fruit... it felt good!

12:00 pm. After an hour of chatting, meeting, having very painful reflexology done (the nice girl Madhu assures me I am about to get cervical or thyroid problems. I say, I know, it's because of a broken heart... she giggles nervously). I go back into the Panel Discussion. More like Mahabharata! There are 4 holistic "doctors" on Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Naturopathy. No one really cares about us in the audience, they just want to boast about their cases in the past... any real questions from the audience are shut down. I watch amazed... why do we put up with Panels like this??? I meekly raise my hand and tell people, if they like, I can help them analyse their diet using ayurveda and blood type mapping and as I leave the room, many people follow me. The Pied Piper effect again...

1:30 pm. One large gentleman comes to me and asks me if I can help him with his weight management, diabetes and hypertension. I love when people come to me and ask for help, so with a flourish I take out my spray, do an invocation and begin general sweeping.. Of course I can help, I assure him, as I tell him his healing has started from the moment he approached me.

150 pm. Many people have been watching the sweeping and energising... they ask for my card, and I say I do not have cards as I am unemployed and a free spirit. I will come where they call... They take my phone number and email address on torn chits of paper and after I politely turn down the offer of a ride home from an elderly gentleman, I take a deep breath and go to Lunch.

2:00 pm. I have never seen such an unhealthy lunch! After the one hour panel discussion on eating saatvik and gentle food, we arrive at the Habitat's offering of greasy, artery clogging, overspiced food. I carefully take what I know will suit me, but even so, I have an upset stomach this morning. I think I will carry my own snacks today...

3:00 pm. Back in the Conference Room. I am looking forward to Anuradha Ramesh's workshop on Past Life, but within 30 minutes, I am back in the outdoors looking for tea. I go to the Life Positive people and ask them, politely, where I can redeem the tea vouchers they have kindly given me. They look horrified, as if I have asked for tequila and say sternly, "Ma'am, it's not tea time yet, you just ate!". And I say, laughingly, we need tea all the time, we are Indian, you know! Plus who can stay awake with such boredom inside... they giggle and tell me to go an buy my own tea at the Habitat... So I did!

5:30 pm. Real Tea Time. Tea and Coffee, no herbal tea or brown sugar, to my dismay. Today I will have to carry my own tea and sugar also! The only snack is cookies and I do not eat wheat. I ask one of the Habitat people if they can give me an alternative or a piece of fruit, and they refuse. I mention this to Vijay, who is the event coordinator, and he also says he is helpless, that this is all in the Habitat's hands.

Tell me this, if I have paid Rs. 5000 to listen to a series of rather boring workshops, can they not go out of their way a little bit to get me a banana or a piece of chocolate? I guess not, so today, I will carry chanas and chocolate...

6:30 pm. Finally, the evening discourse. The best part of the day. I sit in a quiet spot so I can really focus on Swami Sukhbodhananda. After a very boring and political 30 minutes of thanking the sponsors, the chairman, the editor, etc., he finally gets to come on the stage. The next 2 hours were truly magical, thank you Swami ji, for your wonderful discourse on living in abundance, with abandon, with joy, with mirth...

8:45 pm. I ask the Life Positive people if they can help call a taxi for me. They are fed up of me after all my requests for help, and say they cannot help me anymore...

9:00 pm. I reach home, happy and tired...

6:00 am Saturday... Going to pack my cellphone charger (as the Airtel one there is broken!), some snacks, some tea, a bunch of printouts on my workshop next weekend, and a whole lot of Love and Patience. Let's see how Day 2 pans out... Watch this space!!

Love,
Jhilmil

There's A New Bitch In The House!!

As I shout at my two elder sons while they watch me befuddled, I think what is the point of any of this?

To feel so trapped, to have to wait...

What are these chains of love??

Trying to give my marriage and home a very good and long chance at success and keep shouting at my kids? That does not seem like progress to me...

Gotta run today, am late, so more journalling later!

Love,
Jhilmil

Love: Food for the Soul!

"Love is the food that will make your Soul grow. By Loving deeply, you may become One with your beloved and One with all."
—Grand Master Choa Kok Sui

Maybe what he is telling me this morning is that it is okay to fall in love with someone else and that will make my marriage stronger?? I don't get it, but this Master keeps me on my toes as I struggle to read between the lines...

Maybe he is saying, as a healer, I will become One with God, and then what does it matter who I am married to? If we are all One, we are all married? Sounds rather like an orgy, but I will keep going with my theories...

Maybe he means love deeply and not ask for anything back... Now, I am the Queen of doing that, that is why my marriage is in the mess it is in, and all the men I meet fall in love with me...

Thank you, Master! I'll keep reading between the lines and keep guessing...

Blessings be to all the beloveds of the world, all the lonely people searching for love, all the broken hearts... We are all One!

Love,
Jhilmil

The truth about Bipolar Disorder...

The truth about bipolar disorder is that it is a gift! I love being bipolar. Of course, now I look at all the negatives like a gift from God... to see what lesson He wants me to learn from that particular blessing?!!

So, if I have insomnia, I get excited!!! So many more hours to work, to create, to soak in the bath tub...

And, now as I go through life with a stepford wife mask, it's very interesting to watch people's reactions to me. As I play the perfect trophy wife, sexy, sweet, intelligent—great home, great parties... Excellent mother. In short, a paragon. Quite impossibly perfect!!!

So as I ask my beloved husband of 16 years for a trial separation, it is killing me. But I smile through the tears. In my mind, the discussions are long over. Now is the time to be. To just live and let live. No chains of love. No shackles...

Love,
Jhilmil

Marriages and Vipassana

Thank Heavens for Goenkaji... and thank heavens for yoga!

Vipassana allows a meditator to detach from the pain and be a spectator or witness. It is an extremely powerful tool for analysing any problem in your life.

Yoga is another constant companion. Your body, your breath will tell you what the problem is: if you can tap into the power of the subconscious....

Thank God I know how to do both... else suicide in the bathtub would have seemed like the perfect thing to do rather than the spa soak I just took, my second salt water soak of the day! My aura must be sparkling...

So, married people and unmarried, happy or sad, better learn yoga and vipassana... you never know when you may need to save your own life!!!

Love,
Jhilmil

The Secret Behind Happy Marriages is Not Love!

Love is not the key behind happy marriages!

Respect, Companionship, Friendship, Shared Goals and Dreams... these are better foundations of long and happy marriages.

And since I have none of these, even though my heart is breaking, I am giving myself until January 1 to see what happens if I flood this marriage with love, dances, whispered secrets... will it come back to with love, or bounce away from me...

So, dear friends and bloggers, what do you think? Should a woman stay in a marriage where respect is gone... where she is taken for granted as the provider of cuddles, warm meals, clean rooms, laundry and sex? I'd love your opinion...

Love,
Jhilmil

Kahlil Gibran on Marriage:

"You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.

For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow. "

Do you know what your kids are doing online?

From iVillage...

"Raising a child these days isn't easy. Kids are carrying their own personal phones. They're surfing the Internet unsupervised, where they can meet people who don't have their best interest at heart. Or they're trying to process the trauma of a tragedy such as September 11, an event their parents were not prepared for themselves. It's important to learn how to help your kids deal with traumatic events.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has started an Internet Safety Group. Have a burning question about how to keep your kids safer online? You can ask it directly."

Parents, please wake up and smell the coffee! You are losing your children earlier and earlier... why let this loss of innocence happen??? Get involved, be tough, and have great kids, not adults in kids bodies, for longer!!

Happy Birthday To My Mother....

Darling Amma:

You will never be able to see or feel or touch my love for you... I keep blooming like a flower, fragrant, full of love, pretty and pink. Your choice if you want to inhale my fragrance, wear me in your hair, or pluck me and throw me in the garbage, or walk on me carelessly like a petal on your way to your next lunch with your society ladies who lunch club...

Take care, my darling mother, giver of my life, and my warden from the womb to the tomb... Keep taunting, keep hurting, you know how to be like a thorn in my side...

I love you, and wish you only love, happiness, pleasure, joy, health, good times... with or without me.

Love,

Jhilmil

Happy 40th, Mrs Robinson!!!

From http://www.scarecrow.com
Graduate, The (40th Anniversary Collector's Edition) (1967)
Format : DVD R1 NTSC
Release Date : 9/11/2007
Price: (USD) : $21.95

Synopsis:
Ben has recently graduated college, with his parents now expecting great things from him. At his "Homecoming" party, Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father's business partner, has Ben drive her home, which leads to an affair between the two. The affair eventually ends, but comes back to haunt him when he finds himself falling for Elaine, Mrs. Robinson's daughter.

Nominated for seven Academy Awards and winner for Best Director, this ground breaking and "wildly hilarious" (The Boston Globe) social satire launched the career of two-time Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman and cemented the reputation of acclaimed director Mike Nichols. Pulsating with the rebellious spirit of the '60s and a haunting score sung by Simon and Garfunkel, The Graduate is truly a "landmark film" (Leonard Maltin). Shy Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) returns home from college with an uncertain future. Then the wife of his father's business partner, the sexy Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), seduces him, and the affair only deepens his confusion. That is, until he meets the girl of his dreams (Katharine Ross). But there's one problem: she's Mrs. Robinson's daughter!

As a lot of my friends enter the dangerous 40s... I see this scenario becoming common! 40ish women dating 20ish men... A win win for both? Maybe, it depends... everything is relative...

So, what do you think?

In the days of Cheeni Kum and the 40th anniversary of Mrs Robinson, do you think this is right? Or is it wildly immoral?

I'm all ears... Write in!

Jhilmil

"Strange that creatures without backbones have the hardest shells."

Kahlil Gibran... Poet to some, prophet to others. An inspiration to me...

From his musings, Sand & Foam, he says:
"Strange that creatures without backbones have the hardest shells."

How true that is! Like my father... when he talks about saving the world, but cannot shield his child from abuse or speak out about his grandson's abuse on national TV. Life in fear... No backbones. Hardest shells.

Or a beloved many years ago. Who made an assignation to meet... and we both looked forward to the date with anticipation... only he pulled out last moment. Fear... what will people say?

And these are the people with the thickest skins... or the hardest shells. The people with blocked hearts, as I like to say... the people with heart disease, strokes, and hypertension.

Love and blessings be to you both... men I adored in my past... and pity now... may you live in peace, prosperity and wellness.

I set you both free... may you fly with Allah's blessings!

Love,
Jhilmil

Abua... I love you!

September 9, 2007:
My dear departed grandmother's 85th birthday. Why do I miss her so? Why does God take away the good people so soon? She was my inspiration: the perfect Stepford wife in India, the wanton temptress in Pakistan...

Who is a Stepford Wife? According to Wikipedia:
The Stepford Wives is the name of a 1972 novel by Ira Levin, as well as two movies of the same name based upon the novel, the first released in 1975, with a remake of the film released in 2004.

The premise involves the married men of the fictional town of Stepford, Connecticut, and their fawning, submissive, impossibly beautiful wives. The protagonist is Joanna Eberhart, a talented photographer newly arrived from New York City with her husband and children, eager to start a new life.

As time goes on, she becomes increasingly disturbed by the zombie-like Stepford wives, especially when she sees her once independent-minded friends – fellow new arrivals to Stepford – turn into mindless, docile housewives overnight. Her husband, who seems to be spending more and more time at the local men's club, mocks her fears.

By the end of the story, Joanna becomes convinced that the wives of Stepford are actually look-alike gynoids, manufactured in secret at the men's club. She visits the library and reads up on the pasts of Stepford's husbands and wives, finding out that some of the women were once high achievers, while some of the men were brilliant engineers and scientists, capable of creating such life-like robots.

At the end of the story, Joanna attempts to flee the town of Stepford as well as warn her new friend Ruthanne, mother of the first black family to move into the town. The men find her and try to convince her that she's mistaken. They take her to her former best friend Bobbie Markowitz, telling her that Bobbie will cut herself and bleed, proving herself to be human. Joanna enters the house to hear loud rock and roll music playing upstairs and sees Bobbie taking a large knife, and realizes too late that the men told Bobbie to kill her and use the music to cover her screams.

In the story's epilogue, Joanna has become another Stepford wife gliding through the local supermarket, while Ruthanne appears poised to become the conspiracy's next victim."

Eve: The Ultimate Temptress
In Pakistan, she was the wanton temptress—abandoned and irreverantly joyous. Happy with her connection with God, delighted to be "home". She would celebrate every moment, greedy to pack it all in... demanding company, food, love, presents, and knowing it was all hers for the taking.

So, why am I writing a book about her life? She was the ultimate Jekyll & Hyde, the most deceptively bipolar person, the most grieving person with the graceful mask and the million dollar smile...

In death, she could not lie. She died of lung cancer, a disease caused by grief. She died in India, though 2 days before she was hospitalised for that final 3 day stint, she tried to "run" back home to Lahore... Trapped by chains of love we all tied, she died in Delhi, a city she disliked, burnt rather than be buried...

In death, an apologetic Muslim. In death, a martyr. In death, so secular...

In life, NOT.

Love,
Jhilmil

Abua, help me as I find out the truth behind your beautiful life. As you celebrated your 85th birthday yesterday on the 9th day of the 9th month, the most spiritual day for the most spiritual person... I know you had surrounded me as the clouds showered tears for me. I love you!

The Transformational Power of Music...

Crosby, Stills & Nash: Marrakesh Express
(Graham Nash)

"Looking at the world through the sunset in your eyes
Traveling the train through clear Moroccan skies
Ducks and pigs and chickens call
Animal carpet wall to wall
American ladies five-foot tall in blue

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you

Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh
All aboard the train, all aboard the train

I've been saving all my money just to take you there
I smell the garden in your hair

Take the train from Casablanca going south
Blowing smoke rings from the corners of my mouth
Colored cottons hang in the air
Charming cobras in the square
Striped djellebas we can wear at home Well, let me hear you now

Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh

Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh
All on board the train, all on board the train
All on board

I am accepting the dichotomy in my life of having a beloved in your heart, and a husband and kids in your life...  I have just come back from an amazing trip to Pakistan, and have got amazing insights, writing a book about them...

So if I do not blog as aggressively, just know I am writing a book...  to make up for my lack of writing as much, I will post music I listen to while I write.

OK?

Jhilmil
